Another multifunction unit, though it doesnâ?t look like one, the HP LaserJet 3100
four-in-one office laser printer. It can work as a printer, copier, and scanner or as a standalone fax machine. It has a rated print speed, which is very low and may probably disappoint you, at 6 pages per minute, same with copying. It also supports document size reduction up to 50% or enlargement up to 200% at maximum. It comes with a starter cartridge but soon youâ?ll have to replace it with a standard HP C3906A (06A) toner cartridge
that can yield 6000 prints (two to three times better than the starter).
Auto-duplexing is not available though, but you can actually do it manually with the HP LaserJet 3100 AIO printer. Paper handling capacity can handle around 150 sheets of media through the unitâ?s standard input tray. If you intend to use the printer regularly as a standalone fax machine, you should take advantage of its fax forwarding, auto-redial, auto-answer and DRPD features. The sheetfed scanner supports a variety of media including labels, envelopes, cards and transparencies. Its automatic document feeder (ADF) can handle a maximum of 100 sheets of Legal size documents. Itâ?s not a network-enable printer, hence wired setup is the only option particularly the Parallel port.
